Why did you choose your major?

I chose engineering because I had attended many of the Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program’s summer components and enjoyed the designing part of the engineering activities. I chose civil engineering specifically because they are the engineers that spend the most time outside on the job.

What made you want to intern with Ahtna and what excites you about the internship?

I wanted to intern at Ahtna to learn more about the company that represents me and my family and perhaps contribute in a small way.

Who has been an inspiration to you in your educational and/or career pursuits and why?

My parents and grandparents, a little cheesy I know, but they all astound me with their stories of how they earned their education. My Grandpa learned how to read from the newspaper and asking folks for help at the local restaurant. My dad learned all he needed about diesel engines working for the Navy. My mother is a recently retired teacher who earned her degree while raising my sister and me. Their stories amaze me, and I want to achieve a similar story to tell my kids.
