Ahtna Vocational Program

Ahtna Vocational Scholarships are available to shareholders with 10 or more voting shares (Original, Inherited, Gifted, Class L). If you are interested in pursuing Vocational Training, below are a few programs to look into! Upon approval, the Ahtna Vocational Scholarship offers up to $12,000 for tuition to be paid directly to the training program. If your program costs more than $12,000, Ahtna Shareholder Enrichment can recommend other financial aid programs.


Alaska Driving Academy: CDL, Heavy Equipment Training

This program is recognized by the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) and is based on the standards set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for Entry Level Driver Training requirements. PTDI is a nationally recognized and highly respected standard in the trucking industry. Training consists of classroom instruction, demonstrations, hands-on basic maintenance, off road maneuvers, and on-the-road driving.

Charter College: Welding

The Charter College Welding Certificate program includes hands-on cutting, welding, layout, and fitting skills that are used and practiced in today’s welding workforce. The welding certificate program covers how the welding processes work and why certain welding processes are used. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment in fabrication shops and the construction field.

Northern Industrial Training: Heavy Equipment Training

Construction Equipment is a lucrative and seasonal field in Alaska. Northern Industrial Training (NIT) has developed programs to provide experience and certifications necessary for entry-level employment in the Construction Equipment Industry.
